Seasonal Differences in Ecophysiological Performance between Resprouters and Non-Resprouters across an Aridity Gradient in Northwest Tunisia

چکیده
Understanding the functioning of shrub species during dry periods is necessary to forecast ecosystem responses future climates, particularly in Mediterranean environments. We evaluated seasonal changes leaf gas exchange, hydraulic traits, carbon and nitrogen isotopes, non-structural carbohydrates seeders resprouting typical Aleppo pine forests across an aridity gradient Tunisia: Djebel Zaghouan (subhumid climate), Mansour (semiarid transitional El Sarj (semi-arid climate). monitored seven woody species: Pistacia lentiscus, Erica multiflora, Phillyrea latifolia (resprouters), Cistus monspeliensis, Rosmarinus officinalis (seeders), Globularia alypum, Calicotome villosa (resprouters-seeders). The variation water content was usually higher than resprouters associated with resistance embolism. In contrast, resprouters, especially at driest site. Both δ13C δ15N displayed enrichment-depletion patterns, showing overall summer spring, consistent a water-saving strategy increasing use efficiency. Discriminant analysis suggested that can sustain positive balance drought periods. differential impact droughts on status ecophysiology these plant strategies may lead different dynamics depending whether climate change tips towards preponderance stressors (drought) or disturbances (fire) areas.

the relationship between learners critical thinking ability and their performance in the reading sections of the tofel and ielts test
the study reflected in this thesis aims at finding out relationships between critical thinking (ct), and the reading sections of tofel and ielts tests. the study tries to find any relationships between the ct ability of students and their performance on reading tests of tofel and academic ielts. however, no research has ever been conducted to investigate the relationship between ct and the read...
15 صفحه اولDoes Seasonal Decline in Breeding Performance Differ for an African Raptor across an Urbanization Gradient?
As human populations have increased globally, so too has the transformation of natural landscapes into more urban areas. Within Africa, population growth rates and urbanization rates are amongst the highest in the world, but the impacts of these processes on Africa’s wildlife are largely un-explored. In this study, we focus on a recently established population of black sparrowhawks Accipiter me...
متن کاملCaught in a fire trap: recurring fire creates stable size equilibria in woody resprouters.
Globally, fire maintains many mesic habitats in an open canopy state by killing woody plants while reducing the size of those able to resprout. Where fire is frequent, tree saplings are often suppressed by a "fire trap" of repeated topkill (death of aerial biomoass) and resprouting, preventing them from reaching adult size. The ability to tolerate repeated topkill is an essential life-history t...
